Willian E. Davis, III - Director
Once after the choir had rendered a difficult anthem Charles C. Finney (founder and pastor from 1836 - 1872) prayed “Oh Lord, we trust that Thou has understood the song they have tried to sing; Thou knowest that we could not understand a word of it.”
Special musical events include an annual Messiah sing-along, frequent appearances of Oberlin Conservatory students and faculty as part of the worship service, and support for the Credo Chamber Music Program. An annual performance of organ and brass is combined with the sale of mugs or bowls made by the Oberlin Pottery Cooperative, and raises money for Oberlin Community Services.
Spcial musical events have included a concert for organ and brass, a Celtic music group in the Sunday Worship Service, a Bach Cantata during Sunday Worship, and more recently a performance of the Vivaldi Magnificat during Sunday Worship (Click here for a recording of that performance).

The Cauffiel organ dates from 2004. It was made possible by gifts from Jane Cauffiel Thomson, members of the First Church congregation and the Oberlin community. For more information see the organ description and history page.
